Lives and works between Italy and Senegal.

Maïmouna Guerresi participated to prestigious Biennials and Festivals, such as the 10th Dak’Art Biennial; the Venice Biennale in 1982, 1986 and 2011; Documenta K18 in Kassel; 2009 Les Rencontres de Bamako, Malindi Biennial (2006). Her work has been also extensively exhibited in solo and group shows all over Europe, Africa, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Among her recent exhibitions we should mention: “Tresor d’Islam en Afrique” I.M.A., Institute du Monde Arabe, Paris (2017), “Islamic Art Now, Part II: Contemporary Art from the Middle East” Lacma Museum Los Angeles (2016), “Islamic Art Festival 16° edition, National Museum of Sharjah, UAE (2014), Biennale Off -Dak’Art 2014, and “Africa: See You/See Me - African Influence on Contemporary Photography”, National Museum, Lagos, Nigeria and Goethe Institute (2012).
